Saying Goodbye to a Much-Loved Pet
Losing a beloved companion is one of the hardest experiences a pet owner can face. At A Calm Sleep, we understand just how deep that bond is and how important it is that every last act feels respectful, personal and meaningful.
Early on, when setting up A Calm Sleep, I made a deliberate decision to stay within my lane. What that means is simple: we focus entirely on what we do best, helping you say goodbye to your much-loved pet with dignity, compassion and clarity.
Our role isn’t to be everything to everyone. It’s to be excellent at one thing: supporting you through this sensitive process with care, professionalism and empathy from start to finish.
How We Can Help You
When you’re dealing with loss, even practical arrangements can feel overwhelming. That’s where A Calm Sleep steps in to lift the burden of logistics so you can focus on remembering your pet.
You can choose whichever crematorium you prefer, and I can make the initial contact on your behalf handling bookings and enquiries directly so you don’t have to. Alternatively, if you feel comfortable contacting the crematorium yourself, that’s absolutely fine too. The choice is entirely yours.
Whether it’s arranging collection, discussing the type of cremation you want, or helping you understand memorial options, we’re here to guide you through each sensitive step.

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens after my pet passes away?
When your pet passes, we will guide you through the next steps calmly and clearly. We can arrange collection if needed and discuss cremation options with you. You don’t need to make every decision immediately — we will support you at a pace that feels right.
Do I have to choose a specific crematorium?
No. The choice is entirely yours.
We work closely with carefully selected crematoria who share our values of dignity and respect, but if you already have a preference, we are happy to work with your chosen provider.
Can you contact the crematorium on my behalf?
Yes. If you would prefer not to make that call, we can handle the initial contact and arrangements for you. Alternatively, you are welcome to contact them directly. We will support whichever option feels most comfortable.
What is the difference between individual and communal cremation?
An individual cremation means your pet is cremated separately and their ashes are returned to you.
A communal cremation means your pet is cremated alongside others and ashes are not returned.
If you are unsure which option is right for you, we can gently talk you through the differences.
How long does it take to receive ashes back?
Timeframes vary depending on the crematorium, but typically ashes are returned within a few days to a week. We can give you clearer guidance once arrangements are made.
Can I choose an urn or memorial item?
Yes. Our partner crematoria offer a range of urns, keepsakes and memorial items. We can provide information and help you choose something meaningful if you wish.
How much does pet cremation cost?
Costs vary depending on the size of your pet and the type of cremation chosen. We believe in clear, transparent pricing and will explain all options before any arrangements are confirmed.
You may wish to visit one of our partner website where pricing for cremation is discussed in more detail.
