Saying goodbye to a much loved pet is one of the hardest things pet owners ever do. There is no way round this but doing this at home takes away a lot of the trauma associated with loss.
My journey into setting up a home euthanasia practice started mid 2022. My wife and I had a new pet cat. When it was time to have him neutered, no longer being in practice, we were driving him to a friends practice. He was so distressed during the short journey, I literally turned to my wife and said “If this was the last half an hour of his life this would be terrible”. I began investigating working in this area.
What followed has been the most satisfying, fulfilling period of my career. To be able to allow people to be able to say goodbye to their pets in the same way I do mine is rewarding. They are not scared. They are not anxious. They simply slip away calmly surrounded by the love that has been given to them during their life and loving those that have been there for them from when they were first brought home.
